Meet the creators

Crying in Color was written by Kate San Juan, a former early childhood educator and education consultant with an M.S. in Early Childhood Education who has dedicated her career to supporting teachers, schools, and families in welcoming children's voices and big feelings. It was illustrated by her husband, Kevin San Juan, a Chicago-based creative—musician, painter, coder, builder—who brings imagination to life through watercolor.
